Painting has been my sanctuary amidst life's challenges. During the lockdown in 2021, the confinement felt stifling, especially as I live alone. It was a period of profound restriction that led me to rediscover the therapeutic power of art.

Previously, I delved into the world of colours while running a boutique in the Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre. There, I introduced the concept of upcycling furniture to Ireland, drawing inspiration from the vibrant furniture painting styles of Stockholm, Sweden. I fused old furniture with new designs, crafting unique pieces like old school desks and rocking chairs, all adorned in captivating colours.

Amidst my quest to improve my situation during lockdown, I stumbled upon abstract fluid painting online. I eagerly enrolled in courses and devoured countless tutorial videos by remarkable artists like Rinske Douna, Gilly Kube, Fiona from Slovakia, and others. Their unique techniques became a wellspring of inspiration that guided me through those challenging times.

The captivating world of painting became my escape, a place where colours wielded an extraordinary influence over me. At times, I'd wake in the dead of night, vivid colours and design concepts clamouring for expression on paper. However, translating these ethereal ideas onto canvas often presents a whole new set of challenges. I'm constantly amazed by how a painting can evolve into something entirely unexpected—sometimes thrilling, but occasionally necessitating a complete repaint.

Remaining true to my ethos of recycling, I repurpose canvases whenever feasible, painting over old placemats, tiles, and anything that beckons for a splash of colour. In my pursuit of sustainability, even pizza cartons and cardboard pieces from packaging find new life as improvised palettes!
